This wallpaper calculator helps you determine how many rolls of wallpaper you'll need for your project based on your room dimensions and the wallpaper specifications.

How It Calculates

The calculator uses the following process:

1. Calculates the total wall area (perimeter × height)
2. Subtracts the area of doors and windows
3. Determines the usable area per wallpaper roll
4. Divides the total wall area by the usable area per roll
5. Adds extra for pattern matching and waste

About Pattern Matching

Pattern matching significantly affects how many rolls you'll need:

• No pattern: Minimal waste as strips can be cut to maximize usage
• Small pattern (6" repeat): Moderate waste to match patterns
• Large pattern (12"+ repeat): Significant waste to ensure patterns align

Tips for Accurate Estimation

• Measure from floor to ceiling for accurate height
• When measuring the perimeter, exclude openings wider than 60 inches
• Standard doors are approximately 21 square feet (7' × 3')
• Standard windows average 15 square feet (5' × 3')
• Always round up to the nearest whole roll
